I was totally into the whole Ant-Man concept in early 2000s. But it didn't last. Then again, so many movie genres had an early life.
It was once known as The Human Torch. I don't remember what it was called before that. Oh, but it was something like "magical power, unlimited energy, unable to be drained, impervious to flames", or something. It was a lot of fun.
I like the Fantastic Four because they were the first to go overboard. Their origin is not satisfactory, and their powers were more abusively useful.
Spider-Man was a bad guy, then his powers got more valuable. He always tried to be a hero. He was a very rich and very influential teenager. He married a movie star. Then he married a famous fashion model. So he got a tremendous power, a costume that works like armor, and he must have a lot of money. He had those superpower every movie he made, and got a huge following. That's when the studio were supposed to build a new NYC.
As it happened, I had been in a movie where a superhero named Nightshade got sucked into a wormhole and emerged in another reality. So now it was impossible for her to return. But she created a "clone" of herself there, and the clone had the same powers, and became Spider-Woman.
So, in "The Amazing Spider-Man", he had spider-powers, but he had to save the girl at the beginning of the movie, who was a kind of princess. So now he had to fight criminals who were stealing body parts and brains to find the princess' father.
After that, he was Spider-Man forever, and he never had to do anything else. He was a very rich, very influential, very famous high school kid.
